Recycled packaging

250 tonnes recycled graphic

250 tonnes per annum of cardboard manufacturing offcuts are produced every year at Echo Cartons’ Melbourne packaging manufacturing facility, and all of it  gets recycled to create recycled packaging.

At Echo Cartons, we want you to have the highest-quality products without compromising your sustainable values. Through a focus on recycling materials at our manufacturing site, we’re making sure we are reducing our carbon footprint and being as environmentally-friendly as possible.

100% of cardboard waste is recycled

We capture all the cardboard offcuts, trims and slots created during the manufacturing process to be recycled. Each offcut drops onto a conveyor belt, travelling to a collection hopper before being compressed together.

Using recycled materials for packaging

Our paper recycling partner collects the compressed blocks and turns them back into pulp to produce new paper and cardboard. This new cardboard goes full circle, returning to us to go through the box manufacturing process once again.

Another way to think about it is the equivalent of 750,000 boxes per year. That’s the volume of corrugated cardboard waste that we recycle per year.

OCC – Old Corrugated Containers

Our waste is known as OCC – Old Corrugated Containers. It is separated so that it is free of contaminants so that 100% of it can be recycled. In other words, nothing goes to landfill.

Recycled OCC pulp is turned into the liner or medium used in making corrugated board, which is one of the raw materials we purchase to make your cardboard boxes. We are proud that so much of our process and products are sustainable and that we produce recycled packaging.

100% recyclable packaging

All of our produced packaging is 100% recyclable. We use recycled materials to produce 100% recyclable packaging, helping ensure more sustainable packaging is available.

Using recycled cardboard packaging is one way your organisation can make your products reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to the environment. If sustainable packaging for your products matters to you as much as it does to us, talk to us today about how we can help you with your packaging needs.
